Alderman White The Alderman White Family of schools were recently successful in obtaining an Awards for All grant of over £9,000 pounds that will be used to support fencing coaching in each of the 3 schools and also the creation of a Community Fencing Club within the family based at Alderman White School and Language College. Alderman White, 8th January 2008 The Community Sports Coaches have again been in prominent action around the family. Older Key Stage 3 children at Alderman White have been involved in a series of Martial Arts coaching sessions during the Autumn Term. Alderman White, 29th November 2007 In October, the Alderman White Family Festival programme 2007-8 started with a Year 4 Unihoc Festival held at Beeston Fields. Over 90 children from Round Hill and Beeston Fields Primary Schools were put together in mixed teams and played a round robin tournament against each other. The winning team on the afternoon was the one that scored most goals in the number of games played, regardless of the number of games won or lost. The organisation on the day, and there was a lot to do in the way of timekeeping, refereeing and coaching was undertaken by the Year 10 Sports Leaders from Alderman White. The afternoon could not have functioned properly without them. For their warm up and down, they jogged to and from Alderman White for this tournament! Alderman White, 29th November 2007 Three year 6 children from Round Hill Primary School participated in the Broxtowe squad in the recent Nottinghamshire Disability Youth Games. Thea Cliff, Lee Robertson and Amy Cave were in the Boccia team that helped Broxtowe to their success. Alderman White, 9th July 2007 Despite all the poor weather we have had to contend with in this wonderful British summer that we are having, the Family rounders festival took place on Thursday July 5th in 'good' weather. (It wasn't raining!!) 10 mixed teams of 12 children from year 6 at Beeston Fields and Round Hill Primary Schools and year 7 at Alderman White SLC played in 5 different games based 'loosely' on the game of rounders. The games were designed and run by the year 10 GCSE PE students from Alderman White who did a fabulous job explaining the rules and organisation and keeping the younger pupils involved. It was the first time that the family has had a sporting event involving 'competitors' from all 3 schools in the family. Thanks must go to all involved in the day. The first of many to come! Alderman White, 6th July 2007 Finally on June 19th, after a previous postponement, over 160 children from Beeston Fields and Round Hill Primary Schools took part in an afternoon of sporting activity planned and organised by the Year 11 Junior Sports Leaders from Alderman White School. On a week when almost every other day was wet, the afternoon took place in almost perfect weather. Judging by the smiles on the faces of the children who took part it was an extremely enjoyable event. Special mention must be made of those JSLA students from Alderman White who came into school from their study leave during the midst of their GCSE exams. Alderman White, 29th June 2007 Over 50 children from Round Hill Primary School took part in the Partnership Dance Showcase at the Nottingham Arts Theatre on April 26th. The Foundation Stage 'Lion King' dance took the honours in the 'Aaah' category, years 2 & 3 performed their Counttry dances with superb timing and the year 6 'Grease' compilation wowed the audience with their energy, enthusiasm and expertise! Parental comment about the whole evening has been excellent. Alderman White, 29th June 2007 |
