Year 9 cricket
The Year 9 Cricket team lost to South Wolds by 5 wickets. It was an uphill task when a depleted GS team made only 35 runs after many poor shot selections! Good bowling from Adam Stancer (yr 8) and captain Eddie Sibert gace GS a fighting chance. However South Wolds hit a couple of 4's to win the game.

Year 12/13 Football
The team went out of the South Notts. Cup at the semi-final stage losing out to Harry Carlton 5-3. The team started brightly and after just 2 minutes, a huge punt forward from Gibbo saw the George Spencer keeper score straight from his kick. The home side went 2-0 up shortly afterwards and some of the team were already thinking about getting a suit measured up for the final. However, this optimism was short lived as yet again they surrended their 2-0 lead to go 5-2 down early in the second half. They was a little bit of hope as Holmes made it 5-3, but the best team ran out the winners. The rebuilding process begins now in preparation for next year and Powell will definitely be looking for some "young blood" to strengthen the team.

20th July 2007

Of the five scheduled matches in the Eastwood Primary schools cricket league, only the first took place. The cricket club ground has been waterlogged since that first fixture on 7th June. To make matters worse the annual Kwik cricket festival planned for today, Sunday 15th July (St Swithins day) had to be cancelled. Let's hope we are luckier next season.

The schools with key stage 2 children competed in an athletics event during the afternoon of Thursday 5th July at Lynncroft Primary school fields. Forty year 10 sports leaders from Eastwood Comprehensive led the events at which 200 pupils from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 participated. Certificates were awarded to all participants, to the highest scoring teams in each event and to the best behaved team. Photographs in the Photo Gallery show some of the events.
Eastwood, 15th July 2007
The morning of Thursday 5th July provided a window of dry weather and surprisingly dry fields at Lynncroft primary school where the annual Eastwood family year 2 athletics events took place.
The five schools with Key Stage 1 children brought almost 180 pupils who participated in obstacle relay, throwing, kicking at a target, running with a ball and bean bag passing activities. All the children received certificates and the top scoring teams in each event and best behaved team got a commendation. Forty Year 10 sports leaders again showed their growing confidence as they demonstrated and officiated. Photographs of the event can be seen in the photo gallery.

Bramcote Park Year 9/10 Rounders team narrowly beat George Spencer to a smooth victory in the final of the Broxtowe Rounders Competition.

The tournament was originally called off mid way through before the finals could be played due to severe rain, but this didn't put either teams out of there swing (excuse the pun!!)

Bramcote went ahead after the first innings but then after a strong come back from a hard hitting Spencer side it looked like either team could win the title.  In the end Bramcote won with 8 rounders to Spencer's 6.  A close game.  Congratulations to the winners!!

Tuesday 10th July saw Bramcote Park's 2nd Annual Top Link Primary Festival.  The event took place at Bramcote Park and we were lucky that the weather held out for the entire day!!!

The morning session was attended by Frederick Harrison, Albany Infants and St John's Infants and the afternoon session saw Stevenson and St John's juniors get their slice of the action.

Bramcote Park Junior Sports Leaders were responsible for the planning and organising of the event and their efforts were commended by several of the visiting staff.  All pupils had a whale of a time - they participated in football skill games, rounders and obstical/relay type activities.  Watch this space for some photographic action of the day's events!!

Alderman White, 9th July 2007
Despite all the poor weather we have had to contend with in this wonderful British summer that we are having, the Family rounders festival took place on Thursday July 5th in 'good' weather. (It wasn't raining!!)
10 mixed teams of 12 children from year 6 at Beeston Fields and Round Hill Primary Schools and year 7 at Alderman White SLC played in 5 different games based 'loosely' on the game of rounders.
The games were designed and run by the year 10 GCSE PE students from Alderman White who did a fabulous job explaining the rules and organisation and keeping the younger pupils involved.
It was the first time that the family has had a sporting event involving 'competitors' from all 3 schools in the family.
Thanks must go to all involved in the day. The first of many to come!
Alderman White, 6th July 2007
Congratulations to Bramcote Park's Year 10/11 Athletics Team who won this summer's competition held at Harvey Hadden Athletics Stadium.  Several pupils from the team went on to represent Broxtowe at the District Competition in June.  The Year7/8/9 team came Runners-Up.

The Year 7 Athletics Squad came Runners-Up in the Year 7 Athletics Competition.  Well done to all!
